The human part still matters.

Slop Alert is an independent nonprofit initiative for people who want to make informed choices about the software they use.

Building has changed. Responsibility hasn’t.

AI tools have lowered the barrier to creating software. That opens up useful possibilities. It also makes it easier to release an application before anyone has checked how it handles private information, failure, or misuse.

A prototype can look finished long before the engineering is ready. Users usually have no way to tell the difference.

We make the evidence easier to find.

Slop Alert brings together review requests, verified findings, and practical explanations. We want people to understand the risks that matter to them, and builders to have a clear path to address those risks.

That includes knowing who owns and manages a service. We document public ownership disclosures and contact routes alongside technical evidence, without treating a missing name as proof of a security flaw.

Standards apply to us, too.

Our methodology is public. Submissions are private. We clearly distinguish examples from findings, and plan to publish dated corrections and remediation updates. We will earn credibility through the quality of that work.
